QUIRKS/FUN FACTS Learned to ride sde saddle to win a bet.
Growing up, Wesley was considered fierce competition throughout the midwest junior rodeo circuit (wrestling, roping, broncing). No one would have guessed that he didn't have a passion for the sport, watching the way he competed, but truthfully, it was his father's ambition instead of his own. Cody, a generational cattle farmer, lived vicariously through his sons triumphs. As the young man's enthusiasm waned, he offered bribes such as a new dirt bike, xbox, horse, etc. to keep him competing.
Wesley's parents had divorced when he was very young, due to Cody's infidelity. Within six months, Cody was remarried to a woman named Josephine, who gave birth to twin girls a few months after the wedding. This marriage also dissolved within a few years and afterward, they rarely saw her or the girls again. That was the last time Cody decided to get married, but he indulged in an endless parade of women, ranging from one night stands to flings that lasted a few months, never anything serious.
His mother, on the other hand, never showed any interest in dating, quietly sharing custody of their son, having bought a small house a couple miles down the road. Wes worked on the farm, but slept at his mom's house most nights, since there wasn't much time to see her otherwise, especially during the school year.
After graduating, Wes told his mother about his plans to move away. His relationship with his father, however, had deteriorated to the point that Wes left without so much as the courtesy of a goodbye. He settled near Breckenwood, putting his trade knowledge to use as a handyman, which he eventually scaled into a local remodeling company. At the same time, he found the freedom to pursue an event he actually enjoyed: reining.
